We should be closing on the house in 2 weeks, and are currently in the stage known as “The Wait.”
This is the stage where millions of things could go wrong, but you don’t hear anything, and you’ve got a million papers to gather, so you’re just hoping and praying and crossing your fingers and toes that you really are closing in two weeks.
It’s frustrating, and I do not recommend it.
However, there’s really no way around it, except to provide the requested documents and keep on truckin’. (That freelance commission check also still hasn’t come through, just in case you were wondering, and I don’t know what my bonus for Q1 is yet either. SIGH.)
To keep myself busy/as anxiety-free as possible, I’ve been trying to focus on the following:
- Spending more time reading to my kids
- Eating breakfast and making hot tea every morning
- Packing lunch every day
- Staying hydrated throughout the day
- Getting adequate sleep
- Watching engrossing television shows (Sherlock)
Interestingly, this latte fast is the first one that hasn’t resulted in major caffeine/sugar withdrawals, probably because of how diligent I’ve been with action items 2 and 3 above.
I do generally feel less peppy, but I think that’s more a side effect of stress than a lack of lattes.
I honestly don’t miss them right now, so I think my “stay busy” strategy is working. Weirdly, I’ve also eaten out considerably less. It’s like I’ve expanded the challenge without even trying.
Keep your fingers crossed for us! Hopefully we’ll have news soon!
